Розділ 3

1 А о́трок Самуїл служив Господе́ві при Ілії. А Господнє слово було рідке́ за тих днів, видіння не було часте́.

2 І сталося того дня, коли Ілі́й лежав на своєму місці, а очі його стали затемня́тися, він не міг бачити,

3 і поки Божий світильник ще не погас, а Самуїл лежав у Господньому храмі, там, де Божий ковче́г,

4 то покли́кав Господь до Самуїла: „Самуїле, Самуїле!“ А він відказав: „Ось я!“

5 І побіг він до Ілі́я та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. А той відказав: „Я не кликав. Вернися, лягай“. І він пішов і ліг.

6 А Господь далі покликав: „Самуїле, Самуїле!“ І встав Самуїл, і пішов до Ілія та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. А той відказав: „Не кликав я, си́ну мій. Вернися, лягай“.

7 А Самуїл ще не пізнав голосу Господа, і ще не відкрилося йому Господнє слово.

8 А Господь далі покли́кав Самуїла третій раз. І він устав, і пішов до Ілі́я та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. І зрозумів Ілій, що то Господь кличе о́трока.

9 І сказав Ілій до Самуїла: „Іди, лягай. І якщо знову покличе тебе, то скажеш: „Говори, Господи, бо раб Твій слухає Тебе!“ І пішов Самуїл, та й ліг на своє місце.

10 І ввійшов Господь, і став, і покли́кав, як перед тим: „Самуїле, Самуїле!“ А Самуїл відказав: „Говори, Господи, бо раб Твій слухає!“

11 І сказав Господь до Самуїла: „Ось Я зроблю́ таку річ серед Ізраїля, що в кожного, хто почує про неї, задзвени́ть в обох ву́хах його.

12 Того дня Я виконаю над Ілі́єм все, що Я говорив про дім його, від поча́тку й до кінця.

13 І розповім йому, що Я суджу́ дім його навіки за гріх, про який він знав, що сини його богозневажають, та не спиняв їх.

14 Тому́ присягнув Я домом Ілі́я, що не очиститься гріх Ілі́євого дому жертвою та жертвою хлібною навіки“.

15 I лежав Самуїл аж до ра́нку, і відчинив двері Господнього дому. А Самуїл боявся розповісти Ілі́єві про те видіння.

16 І покликав Ілі́й Самуїла, та й сказав: „Самуїле, сину мій!“ А той сказав: „Ось я!“

17 І сказав він: „Що́ то за річ, про яку Він говорив до тебе? Не крий правди передо мною. Нехай Господь зробить тобі так, і нехай додасть, якщо ти скажеш неправду передо мною про щось зо всього того, що говорив Він до тебе!“

18 І розповів йому Самуїл усе те, і не сказав неправди перед ним. А той сказав: „Він — Господь, нехай зробить те, що́ добре в оча́х Його!“

19 І вироста́в Самуїл, а Господь був із ним, і не опустивані жодного зо всіх Його слів.

20 І ввесь Ізра́їль, від Дана аж до Беер-Шеви, пізнав, що Самуїл вірний, як пророк Господній.

21 А Господь далі показувався в Шіло́, бо Господь явився був у Шіло́ Самуїлові в слові Господньому.

1 Samuel

Chapter 3

1 AND the boy Samuel was ministering to the LORD, assisting Eli the priest. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was lying down in his bed, and his eyes had begun to grow dim so that he could not see;

3 And the lamp of the LORD was not yet put out, and Samuel was lying down to sleep in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was.

4 And the LORD called Samuel; and he answered, Here I am.

5 And he ran to Eli and said, Here I am; for you called me. And he said, I did not call; go back and lie down. And he went and lay down.

6 And the LORD called again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you did call me. And he answered, I did not call, my son; go back and lie down.

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD revealed to him.

8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you did call me. Then Eli perceived that the LORD had called the boy.

9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, Go back and lie down; and it shall be, if he calls you, you shall say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant hears. So Samuel went back and lay down in his place.

10 And the LORD came and stood and called twice, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel said, Speak, LORD; for thy servant hears.

11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do such a thing in Israel that whoever shall hear of it, shall give heed.

12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.

13 And I will show him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knew when his sons reviled the people and he did not rebuke them.

14 Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's household shall not be purged with sacrifices nor offerings for ever.

15 And Samuel lay until the morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to tell the vision to Eli.

16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17 And he said to him, What is the thing that the LORD has said to you? Do not be afraid of me. May God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that the LORD said to you.

18 And Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And Eli said, It is the LORD; let him do what is good in his sight.

19 And Samuel knew that the LORD was with him, and he did not ignore any of his words.

20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was to be a prophet of the LORD.

21 And the LORD continued to reveal himself by his words in Shiloh; and Samuel's words were declared throughout all Israel.

4 And the LORD called Samuel; and he answered, Here I am.

5 І побіг він до Ілі́я та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. А той відказав: „Я не кликав. Вернися, лягай“. І він пішов і ліг.

5 And he ran to Eli and said, Here I am; for you called me. And he said, I did not call; go back and lie down. And he went and lay down.

6 А Господь далі покликав: „Самуїле, Самуїле!“ І встав Самуїл, і пішов до Ілія та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. А той відказав: „Не кликав я, си́ну мій. Вернися, лягай“.

6 And the LORD called again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you did call me. And he answered, I did not call, my son; go back and lie down.

7 А Самуїл ще не пізнав голосу Господа, і ще не відкрилося йому Господнє слово.

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD revealed to him.

8 А Господь далі покли́кав Самуїла третій раз. І він устав, і пішов до Ілі́я та й сказав: „Ось я, бо ти кликав мене“. І зрозумів Ілій, що то Господь кличе о́трока.

8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am; for you did call me. Then Eli perceived that the LORD had called the boy.

9 І сказав Ілій до Самуїла: „Іди, лягай. І якщо знову покличе тебе, то скажеш: „Говори, Господи, бо раб Твій слухає Тебе!“ І пішов Самуїл, та й ліг на своє місце.

9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, Go back and lie down; and it shall be, if he calls you, you shall say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant hears. So Samuel went back and lay down in his place.

10 І ввійшов Господь, і став, і покли́кав, як перед тим: „Самуїле, Самуїле!“ А Самуїл відказав: „Говори, Господи, бо раб Твій слухає!“

10 And the LORD came and stood and called twice, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel said, Speak, LORD; for thy servant hears.

11 І сказав Господь до Самуїла: „Ось Я зроблю́ таку річ серед Ізраїля, що в кожного, хто почує про неї, задзвени́ть в обох ву́хах його.

11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do such a thing in Israel that whoever shall hear of it, shall give heed.

12 Того дня Я виконаю над Ілі́єм все, що Я говорив про дім його, від поча́тку й до кінця.

12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.

16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17 І сказав він: „Що́ то за річ, про яку Він говорив до тебе? Не крий правди передо мною. Нехай Господь зробить тобі так, і нехай додасть, якщо ти скажеш неправду передо мною про щось зо всього того, що говорив Він до тебе!“

17 And he said to him, What is the thing that the LORD has said to you? Do not be afraid of me. May God do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that the LORD said to you.

18 І розповів йому Самуїл усе те, і не сказав неправди перед ним. А той сказав: „Він — Господь, нехай зробить те, що́ добре в оча́х Його!“

18 And Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And Eli said, It is the LORD; let him do what is good in his sight.

19 І вироста́в Самуїл, а Господь був із ним, і не опустивані жодного зо всіх Його слів.

19 And Samuel knew that the LORD was with him, and he did not ignore any of his words.

20 І ввесь Ізра́їль, від Дана аж до Беер-Шеви, пізнав, що Самуїл вірний, як пророк Господній.

20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was to be a prophet of the LORD.

21 А Господь далі показувався в Шіло́, бо Господь явився був у Шіло́ Самуїлові в слові Господньому.

21 And the LORD continued to reveal himself by his words in Shiloh; and Samuel's words were declared throughout all Israel.
